Coldest Night of the Year 2014

Coldest Night of the Year 2014

ColdestNight.2014.ThermometerOn a cool Saturday evening, Feb. 22, 2014, twenty-six members of our congregation gathered at Cooksville United Church for the second annual Coldest Night of the Year walk, raising funds in support of The Dam, whose mission is to  Develop, Assist and Mentor youth and young moms along the journey towards reaching their full potential. Ours was the largest team and was either first or second in raising funds of over $4,000 – 36% over our goal of $3,000.

Participants elected to walk 2.5, 5 or 10 kilometers; at the 1.5 km mark we stopped in at The Dam’s relatively new Cooksville location near Hurontario and Hillcrest. On completion of the walk, organizers served a light dinner of soup and baked goods.

Kudos to team captain Katie Sparrow for driving this initiative and all those whose efforts resulted in exceeding our goal.
