We manifest our faith through service to God and our neighbors, translating belief into action within the local community and beyond.
Our Community: The Village in the City
Streetsville, dubbed “The Village in the City,” is a vibrant neighborhood within Mississauga, rich in history and community spirit. Once a thriving hub of mills and farms, Streetsville today celebrates its heritage through historical architecture and the charm of its many restaurants, cafes, and shops. A diverse tapestry of faith communities enriches our community life, with Streetsville United Church actively participating alongside our neighbors, including St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Trinity Anglican Church, and many others.
A Tradition of Service and Community Engagement
As a congregation established in 1820, Streetsville United Church holds a rich history of service and fellowship. From our early days in modest meeting rooms to our beautiful “high Victorian Gothic” sanctuary built in 1876, we have faithfully served as stewards of our community. Our facilities, continually updated and well-maintained, support a wide range of activities, making them a hub of engagement throughout the week.
We take pride in balancing our historic values with modern needs. Our members actively contribute to various ministries, committees, and community projects. The congregation of Streetsville United Church is reflective of our mission—diverse, welcoming, and committed to love and service, striving to be a place where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
A Commitment to Outreach and Inclusion
Outreach is integral to our faith journey. With a significant portion of our budget dedicated to mission and service, we support both local and global projects. Our efforts include operating a food bank, sponsoring refugee families, and collaborating with community partners like Pathway Non-Profit Community Developments Inc.
We are devoted to being a welcoming church, actively opposing discrimination in all forms. Guided by the United Church of Canada’s commitment to inclusivity, we aim to embrace all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, in full membership and ministry.
